In order to guarantee the fire resistant properties of the door, the installation must comply with the specifications and the test must be carried out in accordance with EN 1634. National and international guidelines, standards, approvals and other relevant regulations concerning smoke control and fire resistance must also be taken into consideration.
Insulation against heat transfer is provided as soon as the intumescent material is activated.
Concealed, hydraulic door closers must not be fitted to fire resistant doors without appropriate protective measures, since:
a large area of the door must be cut out during installation, which reduces fire resistance.
many models contain flammable hydraulic oil.
they are made from material which efficiently conducts heat.
Aluminium housings melt and break in intense heat.
they take up almost the entire door leaf thickness.
